The month of April, 2022 has been declared Volunteer Appreciation Month by Governor Michelle Lujan Grasham today. Together, the State of New Mxico, the Department of Workforce Solutions, and the Aging and Long-Term Services Department celebrate the 4,700 senior volunteers who continue to give back to their communities.
New Mexico is projected to be the fourth largest state in terms of Senior Population per capita by the year 2030. It is imperitive; therefore, that we continue to come together as a community to serve the needs of our aging poulation, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers.
To this end, New Mexico is taking this time to unite in celebration to honor our volunteers, encourage others to volunteer, increase community resources, and support and thank volunteers for their efforts that have led to countless successes and life-changing services for older adults and adults with disabilities.
