Belen Historic Properties Review Board
The Belen Historic Properties Review Board acts in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and City Council.
It is the duty of the Board to identify potential historic districts and potential historic landmarks. The Board shall make recommendations to the City of Belen regarding the following:
- The proposed designation of areas located within the City of Belen as historic districts.
- Proposed classification of structures as historic landmarks.
- The maintenance, proposed alteration, or demolition of historic landmarks or structures located in a historic district.
- The proposed construction of new structures located within a designated historic district.

The Belen Historic Properties Review Board has worked on several projects. The Belen Water Tower was successfully designated a historical landmark as was the Old City Hall building.
