We are thrilled to announce the success of the new traffic unit led by Officer Anthony Jaramillo! After a three-month pilot project to test its functionality, Officer Jaramillo has truly shown his dedication and commitment to keeping our community safe.
During this time, Officer Jaramillo has made an incredible impact with 50 arrests, including 16 Aggravated DWIs, 17 possession of controlled substances arrests, and one trafficking controlled substances arrest. In addition, he has written 368 citations and taken 8 traffic crash reports.
Officer Jaramillo’s efforts have led to the seizure of dangerous substances such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, Xanax, and Suboxone. He has also confiscated several thousand dollars in currency and two firearms, making our streets safer for everyone.
The Belen Police Department is extremely proud of the results achieved during this pilot program. We will be seeking approval from the City Council to establish this unit as an official division within the Police Department’s ranks.
Thank you, Officer Jaramillo, for your outstanding work and dedication to serving and protecting our community!
