Dear Belen Community,
As we transition back to normalcy after the holidays, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to making this year’s holiday events truly special. Our annual Cops for Tots event was especially remarkable, thanks to the support we received from our community.
This year, we were overwhelmed by the generosity shown at various collection points including Calvary Chapel, Walmart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and our police department—where local businesses and citizens generously donated toys.
Thanks to the kindness of our town, we were able to assist over sixty-five families, providing each child with two toys. Furthermore, we donated a substantial number of toys to Rio Communities to support their less fortunate residents.
I want to extend a special thanks to our top contributors this year, including Ed Vonkutsleban, Charlies Paint and Body, the Belen Fire Department, VFW Post 2387, Neil Hise, and the American Legion. Your monetary contributions were invaluable in making this event a success.
Additionally, I want to express gratitude for the generous toy donations from Noblin Funeral Service, 1st Care of New Mexico, Connie Ridley, Rudy and Rhona Espinoza, and Walmart. Your support made a significant difference in the lives of many families.
It is with deep respect and gratitude that the Belen Police Department extends our wholehearted thanks to everyone who helped bring joy to those in need during the holiday season. Your continued support is deeply appreciated.
With warm regards,
Chief James Harris
