23rd Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

Each year the Belen community gathers on the anniversary of 9/11 to honor the firefighters and police officers that were killed during the initial response, and the fallen warriors who made the ultimate sacrifice post 9/11.

At Main St. and Church St. in Belen stands our 9/11 Memorial Park. The park contains a “Freedom Wall” with the names of fallen sholdiers from New Mexico or ties to our state as a reminder that our freedom is not free. An 8-foot marble replica of the twin towers, a steel beam from the World Trade Center, and 8-foot wingspan steel sculpture of an eagle, a first responder’s shovel used at the Pentagon, and a 10,000 pound piece of limestone recovered from the rubble of the Pentagon with a plaque dedicated to the many lives that were tragically taken from us on 9/11/2001.

Below is the brochure for our 9/11 Memorial Park, we hope that you will join us Wednesday, September 11th at 8:45am to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
